How our certifications help ensure systematic change and quality control.
At Seagarden, collagen is responsibly sourced from byproducts of the marine industries. However, we don’t just lean back and call it a day just because we have a good starting-point. We want to play a leading role in systemic change and set the bar for quality.
To do so, certifications are key
Our certifications are part of a systematic effort to protect valuable ecosystems, while also guaranteeing the highest quality in our products.
Here’s what our certifications mean for you:
Made in Norway
The origin of a product matters. Around the world, more and more businesses are looking for the Made in Norway label, a registered trademark managed by Innovation Norway, which signals that our collagen has the authentic Norwegian quality and is produced sustainably.
To use the label, Norwegian companies need to meet certain standards for where their products come from, how responsibly they’re made, and how sustainable they are.
With Norway at the forefront of aquaculture innovation, we’re proud to offer collagen from Norwegian salmon — refined, and perfected here in Norway. It’s marine collagen that carries with it the purity, responsibility, and craftsmanship our country is known for.

What does it mean that Seagarden is MSC certified?
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global nonprofit working to end overfishing and ensure seafood is harvested in a sustainable way. Their standards are widely adopted by marine businesses that care about the environment and product quality.
For Seagarden, being MSC certified means following the MSC Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard. This standard ensures two things:
- Separation: Certified fish and seafood products are always kept separate from non-MSC products in the supply chain.
- Traceability: Certified companies must have systems in place to trace products back to MSC-certified sustainable fisheries.
To maintain certification, Seagarden is regularly assessed by independent third-party auditors. This ensures that we always live up to the standard—not just once, but continuously.
What is “Friend of the Sea” and why does it matter?
Friend of the Sea is part of the World Sustainability Organization, an international NGO that promotes environmental conservation. It is the leading certification standard for products and services that respect and protect the marine environment.
The certification rewards sustainable practices in areas such as:
- Fisheries and aquaculture
- Fishmeal and Omega-3 fish oil
- Restaurants, shipping, whale- and dolphin-watching, aquaria, and more
For Seagarden, this certification is a continuation of a long Norwegian tradition: being friends of the sea. Our culture and way of life have always been tied to the ocean. Today, with increasing pressure on marine ecosystems, Friend of the Sea certification shows our clear commitment to ocean preservation.
What can I expect as a customer?
When you choose Seagarden collagen, you know that:
- The raw materials come from sustainable fisheries.
- Production follows strict quality controls and traceability systems.
- Independent, third-party organizations continuously verify our practices.
In short, you are not only getting a high-quality product—you are also contributing to the systematic protection of the oceans.
